Checking Your Fire Extinguisher Expiration Date

10/26/2017 (Permalink)

Commercial Kitchen Fire in Deal, NJ

It is very important to check your fire extinguishers expiration dates because over time the seal around the neck could weaken and loose compressed air.  Some manufactures say that fire extinguishers should last from 3 to 15 years but that’s a big gap in years.  So with that said probably checking them monthly is a better rule of thumb.  It doesn’t take much to do all you have to do is make sure the safety pin is still in and make sure the needle is in the green area of the gauge.  If it is not functioning then you will need to get the extinguisher serviced or purchase a new one.  To have one serviced check the internet or the yellow pages under “fire extinguishers”.
